On Sunday, August 23rd, NFTY Michigan held its first event of the year via Zoom- Craft and Chat! Participants from across Michigan were invited to learn more about NFTY Michigan and get to know other Jewish teens- all while working on a craft of their choice! Teens shared what they hope to get out of the NFTY experience, as well as what they’re passionate about being involved with. They also expressed the aspects the NFTY community provides that attracts them towards NFTY. Those who attended also learned more about the new structure of NFTY this year, and how events will be held virtually through NFTYx- a new platform for Jewish teens and community members. Crafts ranging from friendship bracelets and painting to embroidery and croissants were made over the span of the hour, and teens were able to be creative while having tons of meaningful conversations! Through partnering with Ivy Cohen, a NFTY alumni and former NFTY North American Board member, NFTY Michigan’s regional board was able to host Craft & Chat through NFTYx- the platform that allows teens the opportunity to hold events virtually to extend NFTY to new and future NFTYites!
In the end, Craft & Chat was a success, and NFTY Michigan’s board cannot wait to see what this upcoming year has in store! Be sure to follow NFTY Michigan on Instagram and Facebook to continue to stay updated about upcoming events and other news!
